All items on Comfy Living are delivered FREE within mainland UK, most items on a Next Working Day service when paid for online before 3pm (Fridays 12 noon). This free delivery service does not provide time estimates which some customers find difficult to fit in around their daily schedule.

The couriers that we use are unable to give time slots or book AM or PM deliveries. Whilst we appreciate that waiting in all day may not be convenient, here’s further delivery services we can offer to try and fit in with the school run or working day:

Courier Special Instructions: You can add these to your order, or email us with your requests. Popular requests include:

Calling In Advance: to allow you to get to your property in time - 5 to 30 minutes is the usual timescale can be requested but cannot be guaranteed, requests for 1 hour before may not always be possible due to the logistical planning the couriers have with their postcode route

Leaving in a Safe Place: Nominating a neighbour, or asking for your futon or bed to be left in a garage, the back of a property, behind a side gate or in a porch or reception area can all be accommodated

School Run: Leave a note on the door nominating a safe place, a telephone number or other instructions are all good ideas when you have to leave for the school run or an appointment

We are unable to provide any specific times for delivery other than 08:00 to 18:00 hours. Comfy Living act as an agent for couriers and so are not able to provide a contact number for a courier for public enquiries. The couriers cannot advise on any time slots to us or direct to our customers and your understanding is appreciated in this matter.

A lot of queries we get when customers order futons, beds and mattresses online are to clarify delivery dates. When ordering from Comfy Living there is a calendar for you to book in your specified delivery date, and full delivery scedules are outlined on our Delivery page. Why do we sleep on a futon or bedframe?

There are several reasons why having a mattress on the floor may be worse for your health, here's the top 5 reasons why is it recommended to raise a mattress off the surface of the floor.


1) Dust - Common dust gathers on the floor and it tends to get carried around by draughts. The consequence is that you are more than likely breathe in more dust by sleeping on or very close to the floor.

2) Bed bugs - Another issue is the bed bug parasite which live in our sleeping arena, including covers and the mattress itself. Bed bugs prefer to feed on human blood as you sleep at night and are becoming increasingly common. It is easier for bed bugs to get in your mattress if your mattress is on the floor.


3) Mould and mildew - There is a cause for concern that mould and mildew could become an issue when the mattress is directly on the floor as the mattress is not ventilated adequately. This kind of growth has been linked to wheezy, chesty coughs and the spread of infection from the lungs, chest infections have been strongly linked to sleeping in mouldy areas. Actually sleeping on a mouldy mattress is very bad and detrimental to your body's good health.

4) Temperature - If you live in a cold environment, it will be colder closer, to the floor, so that may be a concern. There is also some concern that there are more drafts near the floor. Hot air rises, therefore cold air falls and it will form a draught close to the floor. Clearly, the reverse could be a concern if you live in a hot environment where breathing issues may harm sufferers of asthma, for example.


5) Health and comfort - if you suffer with joint problems it is painful to lower yourself all the way down on to the floor, and also getting up after your sleep when your body is relaxed proves a challenge too.

Consider how a futon can be classed as eco friendly:

* Sustainable sources of timber – Research proves that felling trees without re-planting new trees contributes to the expanding hole in the ozone layer, oxygen levels are reduced around the globe as the number of oxgyen-generating plants and trees decreases. Every futon set that we sell is constructed from quality materials, from pressure treated pine timber for the wood base, to the construction of the futon mattress.

Futon mattresses from Comfy Living are stuffed with 4 layers of natural fillings including felt and wool. Futon mattresses from alternative sources could be filled with pieces of foam which lose their shape and support. Every Comfy Living futon mattress is a fixed cover design, with 4 layers of fillings, twisted and packed for maximum life expectancy.

Standard futon mattresses are 9cm thick, and are approximately 10kg in weight - that's a heavy mattress. Customers ask us whether the mattress can be rolled to store away, to which we advise the mattress may be too thick to roll, but the mattress can be triple folded and stored.

Luxury futon mattresses use the same natural fillings, however the depth is 14cm thick. These super luxury mattresses weigh in about 15kg and will easily last a number of years of use, whether as a sofa bed, or as an occasional bed for when guests sleepover.
